Basic Information
Class starts promptly at 9am and ends at 4pm. Drinks are supplied, lunch is not. Trees can be provided to work on if needed. It is recommended to bring to same trees back to each intensive to get the specific guidance needed and see how the trees are grown over time.
Boon currently visits the farm three times a year as a continuing program for those interested in making high quality bonsai. The intensive is a great choice for enthusiasts at any level who are serious about studying and learning.
The dates vary from year to year but we meet in May, July, and December for the critical times to do bonsai work in Florida.
Please check our calendar page for exact dates. Spots are limited and it is first come first served.
An important note when working with Japanese trained professionals. These certified professionals have labored hard and long to gain their level of expertise and skill. They come to offer what they have learned as a complete recipe for success. Our role as students is to absorb as much as possible while copying their exact techniques down to the smallest detail. This is not the setting to share your own techniques or have the teacher do all the work for you, we come to learn.
About Boon
Boon studied under several bonsai legends during his apprenticeship in Japan at Daiju-En (A Visit to Daiju-En) and received his professional license from the Nippon Bonsai Association.
"Boon has won numerous national and international awards for his work on bonsai. He is known for his innovative techniques, unique bonsai styling and creative teaching methods. Rather than operate a retail bonsai business, Boon prefers to work directly with customers and regular clients to find high-quality bonsai. He also consults on the setup and maintenance of public and private collections around the world."
