The following calendar will help you determine which trees should be brought in for work at each meeting. 

January

  • Repotting all cold hardy species i.e. juniper, pine, maple, crape myrtle
  • Cleaning conifers i.e. thinning needles on pine and removing old growth on juniper
  • Wiring and styling conifers
  • Cutback on all deciduous and evergreen broad leaf varieties
  • Grafting all cold hardy species

February

  • Repotting all cold hardy species i.e. juniper, pine, maple, crape myrtle
  • Cleaning conifers i.e. thinning needles on pine and removing old growth on juniper
  • Wiring and styling conifers
  • Cutback on all deciduous and evergreen broad leaf varieties
  • Grafting all cold hardy species

March

  • Last call for repotting. We can still repot deciduous trees with swelling buds but not trees that have already leafed out
  • Cleaning conifers i.e. thinning needles on pine and removing old growth on juniper
  • Last call for Winter cutback work
  • Wiring young shoots on deciduous while they are still flexible
  • Pinching refined trees

April

  • Cut back and wiring young shoots on deciduous species
  • Pinching refined trees

May

  • Cutback and wiring young shoots on deciduous species
  • Repotting tropical species

June

  • Cutback and wiring 
  • Repotting tropical species
  • Deadwood, shari, and jin work on conifers
  • General Juniper work

July

  • Cutback and wiring
  • Repotting tropical species 
  • Deadwood, shari, and jin creation on conifers
  • Decandling Japanese black pine begins early in the month for larger trees and later in the month for smaller trees
  • General Juniper work

August

  • Cutback and wiring
  • Repotting tropical species
  • Deadwood, shari, and jin creation on conifers
  • General Juniper work

September

  • Cutback and wiring
  • Last call for repotting tropical species - Those in South Florida or with greenhouses can continue repotting later into the year.

October

  • Cutback and wiring 

November

  • Cutback and wiring
  • Cleaning conifers i.e. thinning needles on pine and removing old growth on juniper

December

  • Repotting all cold hardy species i.e. juniper, pine, maple, crape myrtle
  • Cleaning conifers i.e. thinning needles on pine and removing old growth on juniper
  • Remove old leaves on deciduous trees
  • Grafting all cold hardy species
